Aida Pooryanasab is the Founder and CEO of Aizadfood, a Canadian dried fruit and vegetable brand built on one idea: nothing added.
She’s traveled to more than 30 countries and hundreds of cities & villages, and kept noticing the same thing in the smallest places, people drying their own fruit at home with nothing but sun and time. She couldn’t find anything like it, so she started the business herself with a photo of dried tomatoes in a plain ziplock bag. It sold out immediately.
She had built a version of this business before, growing it to more than 100 employees, before moving to Canada and leaving all of it behind. Starting over in a new country meant starting from zero: no team, no factory, no customers.
She saw the same gap here too: 45% of what’s on Canadian shelves is ultra-processed, and the “healthy” snack aisle is usually just raisins, cranberries, maybe mango.
So she rebuilt, from scratch, around the same idea: dried fruit and vegetables with nothing added, no sugar, no preservatives.
Today Aizadfood runs on a predominantly women-driven team, sells on their website, Amazon, in local supermarkets and at farmers markets, and won the 2025 People’s Choice Award in their community. Aida’s education is a PhD in Technology Management. She’s a mom of two, and her biggest hope is to see Aizadfood in every kid’s lunchbox, and for anyone, anytime, to have easy access to a real snack.
